The Ethics Committee (EC) of the Department of Primary Education operates in accordance with Article 46, paragraph 3 of Law 4589/2019 (Government Gazette 13/A/29.01.2019) and Article 212, paragraph 3 of Law 4610/2019 (Government Gazette 70/A/07.05.2019).
Under these provisions, permission to conduct research in schools or educational structures under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports does not require the opinion of the competent authority, provided that the request is accompanied by a recommendation from the Ethics Committee of the respective Higher Education Institution (HEI) or, in the case of Pedagogical Departments, from the Department’s Administrative Board.
The Ethics Committee reviews and submits recommendations to the Department Assembly, which makes the final decision. The review process includes:
– The research approval application and accompanying information sheet
– The research tools to be used
– The participant information sheet and consent form
